The Department of Regional Studies is an academic community of faculty and students concerned with the societal, economic and environmental development in all its complexity.
The Department is nationally and internationally recognized for its interdisciplinary academic expertise in the fields of environmental policy, urban and regional development, local governance and political geography. The Department of Regional Studies provides students with opportunities to explore both the profound knowledge and contemporary issues in these fields.
The Ministry of Education has nominated the Department three times as a national centre for educational excellence. The latest nomination was for years 2007-2009.
